Successfully blending the pretty narrow streets of a time gone by with the convenience of modern day life Almunecar has a special charm that most visitors return to time after time.  Throughout Almunecar you will find a wide variety of tapas bars and restaurants, many with outside terraces where the you can sit and soak up the atmosphere, this, together with a good network of supermarkets and shops of every type, make Almunecar very user friendly.  There is a large market held every Friday in the car park at the entrance to Almunecar, and there is a boot fare on the first Saturday of every month at the same venue.

Throughout the summer months Almunecar hosts many events including a Jazz festival,  concerts, theatre productions, fun fairs and flamenco dancing to name but a few. Visit the Almunecar Town Hall web site for greater information about forthcoming events.

In the countryside outside the town you can follow the Carretera del Cabras (Highway of the mountain goats) which winds through the Sierra Chaparral and offers some spectacular scenery.  Passing through the villages of Jete, Otivar and Lenteji along the way you can find traditional bars and restaurants offering everything from tapas to 4 course meals, all served with a big helping of Spanish hospitality.

In cases of emergency, doted all over the town are a number of pharmacists, and a large well equipped health clinic can be located close to the new sports stadium which is to the east of the town close to the A340 road.  If hospital attention is required Santa Ana Hospital is approximately 20 minutes drive away and is situated at the town of Motril.
