OPENING HOURS
Supermarkets/High Street Shops
There are a few exceptions but as a rule all the large supermarkets throughout the Granada region and along the Costa Tropical coast open between 9:00am - 9:30am and close between 9:00 pm – 9:30 pm Monday to Saturday but are closed all day Sunday. National bank holidays are treated like a Sunday.
Smaller local supermarkets generally have similar opening hours to the larger outlets but do close for a couple of hours during the middle of the day (2:00pm – 4:00pm).
Local high street shops, with the exception of souvenir shops, open from 10:00 am – 2:00pm and again from 5:00pm to 8:00pm Monday to Friday and 10:00am – 1:00pm Saturdays, and are closed all day Sundays. Souvenir shops open from early until late during the summer months but often close completely for winter. All shops are closed on Sundays with the exception of bakers, it is always possible to buy fresh bread 7 days a week together with a few essentials. Again local high street shops treat national holidays like a Sunday.
Banks
Banks are open from 8:00am to 2:00pm Monday to Friday during summer months. Some banks do open during the afternoon, evenings and Saturday mornings in the winter months, but see your local branch for opening details as it varies from bank to bank. Throughout the whole region there are many cash points to be found which are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Post offices
All post offices keep the following hours: 8:30am – 2:30pm Monday to Friday and 9:30am – 1:00pm Saturday, closed on Sundays and National Bank Holidays.
Chemists
All chemists open 9:30am – 2:00pm and 5:00pm to 8:30pm Monday to Friday, and 9:30am – 2:00pm Saturdays.
There is always a 24hr chemist open locally which is based on a rota system. In cases of emergency the 24hr rota is clearly exhibited in all chemist windows.
Payment
Most high street shops and large supermarkets accept credit/debit card payments but smaller local shops usually only accept cash.
Estancos/Tabacs
It is normal policy to purchase cigarettes, cigars etc from the local Tabacs or Estanco. These shops keep the same hours as other high street shops and are closed on Sundays and National Bank Holidays
