IbexTrex September Monthly Feature
Stories from the Las Alpujarras by Amy Shefry  of  IbexTrex  Walking Holidays.

STARTING OUT
Ibex photos 2.jpgWe came to the area of Las Alpujarras in early 2003 to enjoy some walking, and we were so impressed with the regions beauty and charm, that on a whim we bought a house in the village of Narila, and so it began. After hours of deciding on names for our company we finally came up with Ibex Trex - you do see ibex and we do go out on treks!  It’s better than some of the names we played around with ‘Moors & Mountains’, which I quite liked but was shot down in flames by my other half, ‘Olive Branch Walks’, sounded like an Israeli-Palastinian ramblers club and so on.

I then started creating the website, which on first attempt was not bad, but it did have swirly icon things that no-one liked, but because I had spent so long on designing and learning how to do it, no-one had the heart to tell me.  Finally enough customers and friends had the courage to tell me that ‘it was a good first attempt, but as a website it was rubbish’.  After crying myself to sleep for a few nights I decided to make a new one, the present one.  A much better attempt but still not quite right.  Luckily we have a friend who has agreed to design us another new website, which will be up and running by the end of September and with a new brochure for 2009, we are now the professional set up we have desired to be from the beginning. We have set itineraries for all ranges of walking experience, tailor made holidays for individuals and groups and self guided holidays for people who wish to explore this amazing region on their own.
