Stories from Las Alpujarras
by Amy and Dan Shefry of Ibex Trex walking holidays ....... amusing
and facinating stories of starting a walking holiday company in the Las
Alpujarras.
We are
welcoming 2009 with renewed vigour – mainly because our youngest is finally
sleeping through the night.Our 2009
calendar of set itineraries is up and running on our website and includes our
classic walking weeks of ‘A Taste of Las Alpujarras’ and ‘Las Alpujarras and

Some Gardening Experiences on the Costa Tropical by Michael Spencer .... a very amusing and informative tale of the trials and tribulations of two amateur gardeners conquering an over grown 5,000 square meter garden!
"As the pots became my responsibility I have to hold my hands up and
acknowledge that I made some dreadful mistakes at the beginning with
bad plant choice, bad locations, diluting compost with our very dusty
earth for economy, over or under watering, etc. If I write about all my
errors then these monthly articles will run for 10 years! Therefore I
have summarised for this month and next the knowledge we acquired from
the mistakes rather than the mistakes themselves."
Puppy Training by Jessica Morales Romero .... some very interesting and helpful tips on how to train your new puppy.
"From the first day your puppy comes home you must teach him what to
play with and what not. It is normal for puppies to chew but when you
find him biting a forbidden object then say “no” strongly and take it
away exchanging it immediately for one of the puppy´s own toys, if he
decides to play with it congratulated him....."
News from Almunecar and La Herradura by Martin Bright of Tropicana Properties Almunecar .... Up to date news about what is happening in Almunecar and La Herradura during February.
"Prior to fasting; and the 40 days of Lent, traditionally this month we
have the popular celebration of Carnaval where the locals party with
street parades and masquerades. Here in Spain the most spectacular are
held in Cadiz and the Canaries (Gran Canaria and Tenerife) – and
attract many participants and tourists the world over........"
