The Costa Tropical, with its superb climate, offers an ideal location to enjoy a fantastic variety of sports and pastimes. Averaging some 320 sunny days per year, with summer temperatures typically in the high twenties, but tempered by refreshing sea breezes the climate is ideal for most. Even in winter the temperature in the day averages 18 C, though inland the temperature drops quite sharply especially as you rise into the sierras or head towards Granada, where it may typically be some 5 degrees or more lower (though paradoxically much warmer in the summer).
 Within a short distance of most of the key locations a wide variety of activities such as horse riding, diving, canyoning, mountain biking, quad biking, motocross / trail bike riding, walking and hiking as well as many more can be enjoyed. The glittering blue Mediterranean offers a great selection of water sports, including wind surfing, sea kayaking, diving, sailing and yacht charters and excursions. On the land, golf is available at courses at both Motril & Velez Malaga, as well as further inland close to Granada. Over the land, parapenters can often be seen circling in the thermals over the Sierras, before gracefully landing on the beaches. And, blessed as we are with our proximity to Sierra Nevada, it is perfectly possible to ski or snowboard on a winters morning, before sunbathing on the beach in the afternoon!
